| spellcasting is a brand new harry potter community that mixes an overarching plot with the every day lives of magic folk living in london, england. set in 2018, spellcasting is canon based with only original characters. planned are weekly news stories, developments and rumors about a new dark wizarding group aiming to take hold of the ministry and eventually, the world. as time moves forward the characters at spellcasting must face this group and the chaos they conjure up. look forward to inferi outbreaks, attacks on both diagon alley & the ministry, characters going missing and characters dying. for information on how to join spellcasting please see the application post in the mod journal. |

| since spellcasting isn't a completely normal community we don't have completely normal rules. we do require you to intro, update once a month and participate on the friend's page but activity can be taken care of any number of ways here. updates are pretty run of the mill: narrative, photoshop images, anything that gives us a look into who your character is and what they're all about. we don't intend to be strict regarding your updates but if we feel that a lot of people are coasting on the bare minimum, the requirements may get a little tighter. friends page interaction is the most important part of spellcasting. we won't live if that's not where you're living. you should be posting something to it at least once a month whether it's a plot post, random question, activity or announcement. there's never a good excuse to not be responsive! especially to intros. group threads & plot posts will be a part of spellcasting. we don't need or want to see all of your scenes on the friends page! we're not going that old school. group threads however are an important and fun staple in the harry potter rp world. we know they can be harder to participate in so they won't be so frequent that you're overwhelmed by them. removals happen with every set of adds. you can be removed for not meeting the update requirements, failing to respond to an activity check or having a friend's list out of date 8 days or more. |

| we assume most people joining will have already been in a harry potter community or two in their day but we'll run this by you anyway. most wizards do not use computers or iphones or most muggle technologies. let's keep this community magic focused. while most of the wizarding world are okay with muggles, they have not adopted their lifestyles. muggleborns will be more familiar with it but we ask that the talk and references are kept at a minimum if possible. we just don't want to see characters asking about favorite tv shows and apps, etc. parchments are what your character is writing on with their claimed handwriting font. they're charmed pieces of parchment that allows them to communicate directly and privately with friends or larger groups. please suspend all disbelief here. books 1-7 are canon! even through the epilogue. we do not allow members to play any canon characters or characters related to canon characters. spellcasting canon you should know: |

| so we ask that you also come into the community with this mindset. please be willing to come in and be creative and put yourself out there. sadly harassment is just part of ij now and there's nothing we can do as mods outside of asking our members to treat each other like human beings. we're trying to have fun. if a character, plot or concept is not your taste that's absolutely fine! but keep it to yourself. if rude comments and private messages do get hurled toward you we ask you to remember it's one person being a dick. you can be a dick in character but please choose kindness out of character. we don't care who is who, who was in what community in the past and neither should you. |
